Types of Editing

Developmental

This is a crucial stage for the manuscript that focuses on shaping and refining the structure, coherence, and effectiveness of the narrative. We will collaborate closely with you to enhance the manuscript’s storytelling, thematic consistency, character development, pacing, and overall message. Developmental editing covers the big brush strokes that frame the story, message, and characters.

This prepares the manuscript for later stages of editing.

Line & Copy

Line and copyediting are focused on the details of language, flow, consistency & clarity, and style. Line editing zooms in from the larger picture of the developmental edit and focuses on fine-tuning the voice, tone, and impact of the author’s voice and intention. It enhances the readability of the manuscript.

Copyediting polishes the manuscript, ensuring it meets industry and publication standards. The process allows the author’s message to be communicated clearly to the target audience.

Proofreading

This is the final stage of editing for the manuscript. Proofreading is the detailed examination of a manuscript to identify and correct typographical errors, spelling mistakes, punctuation issues, and formatting inconsistencies. The aim is to produce a flawless and error-free final version of the text.
